Sandwich thrown by activist supposedly burst and caused yellow spot on immigration officer, court hears

A federal customs official has stated under oath he could feel through his protective gear the collision of a deli item hurled at him by a DC demonstrator, who has stood before a judge for criminal charge.

Immigration and customs agent the government official testified to the jury the snack "burst all over him" and he "detected the vegetables and condiment" on his official attire.

No party challenges that Sean Dunn, thirty-seven, did in fact hurl obscenities and a deli-style sandwich at law enforcement sent by the administration to patrol the federal district in August.

The occurrence was captured on camera and spread across the internet, making the accused a representation of opposition in the federal district to Trump.

State lawyers initially tried to secure felony charges against the defendant, but a grand jury chose not to charge him.

The administration's assignment of military personnel to Washington DC this summer generated outrage from some of the DC citizens, who saw it as a partisan deployment of the armed forces.

According to legal filings, the accused came near a police contingent at about 11 PM on August 10, referring to them "extremists" and exclaiming: "Why are you here? You are not welcome in my city!"

The trial witnessed a demonstration from the agent on the trial day as he took the stand against the accused.

"I could feel it through my protective gear," he testified of the food's collision, adding that an vegetable piece remained from his official equipment and sauce stained his clothing.

The accused's attorney, Julia Gatto, stated in her court presentation that hurling the deli product was a "harmless gesture that did not, could not, result in harm".

But state lawyer John Parron argued Mr Dunn must be held accountable.

"Whatever your status, you cannot simply throwing stuff at individuals because you're upset," Mr Parron said.

Subsequent to the alleged assault was revealed, the accused was fired from his employment as a legal assistant in the Department of Justice.
