Vinted Members Express Displeasure Over Size Updates
Members of the platform have expressed outrage due to a modification that led to products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments failing to inform every member regarding the update.
Online Platforms Response
Many shoppers and sellers are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a different size category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
The platform stated the updated approach better aligns with similar services.
The platform has recommended to check their listings and adjust the sizing manually when needed, causing user dissatisfaction.
Sizing System Changes
Earlier, the measurements included one number and one letter, like S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter with a size spectrum like S/UK 8-10.
For certain items, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was previously a 12 but currently displays as UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who makes TikTok content about plus-size fashion, stated the update "complicates both purchasing and selling".
"Not many brands say XL is a 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
Another user, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as size 20–22.
"Should someone sized 20-22 purchase these they're going to be very disappointed," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
Charlotte Lunn, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated due to the update requiring manual adjustment the measurements for "each individual item".
"Personally, this is quite irritating, because of my ongoing medical condition and Vinted sales have been crucial following partial earnings loss," she stated.
Service Background
The platform boasts over 100 million members, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance when a surprising modification within the service has received backlash: last year, the service retracted a modification regarding delivery choices after backlash from users.
